Say Hi to Rich!

Rich is the CEO and Founder of Barcelona SAE and he has been living here in this wondrous city for sixteen years! See what he has to say:

What made you get into this profession?

"I studied abroad myself, once in Russia and once in Madrid. I've also done internships in Italy and these experiences have had a big impact on me. Traveling has changed my life direction and purpose and I want to help as many students as possible experience this life transformation"

What is a typical day like for you?

"Each day is different for me; some days I'll interview new candidates and some will be spent preparing presentations for conferences in the US. Other days I'll work on the curriculum for new classes or new multi-country programs, but my favorite is being able to attend activities with the students such as day trips and cooking classes."

What has your favorite been country been and why?

"Russia was my most memorable country because I was only 20, never left the US before and then, bang, I'm in Russia. There is a certain beauty to the country that makes it so attractive. That was my first experience traveling so it will always hold a special place in my heart."

How would you describe Barcelona?

"It is the city that offers so much. You get different types of academics such as architecture, art or history; it has people from all over the world making it a great mix of European, international, Spanish, and Catalan culture. It's fascinating because it is bilingual, bicultural, entrepreneurial; the lifestyle is great, people work hard but their lives do not revolve around it. It also has great food, beautiful beaches and not to mention a great nightlife. There's always something to do!"

What are some of your favorite things about SAE? What excites you about this program compared to others?

"I started SAE because I wanted a different type of program. One that focuses only on Barcelona, more personalized so we can help students maximize their experience, and most importantly is being affordable to get as many students as possible to study abroad."
